Who Can Join the Sligo PPN?
All ‘not for profit’ groups and organisations operating in Sligo can join. These groups should have any of the following:
- A committee, a set of rules and/or a constitution
- Are open to new members
- Are structured. For instance, hold an annual general meeting (AGM), have a committee and bank/credit union account
Selecting a Category
Finally, the groups groups/organisations need to be active in activities and events in/or for the following categories. A group can only apply to be a member of one of these categories.
- Community & Voluntary - A group whose main activities are either community or voluntary based. For example groups working within the following areas: Active retirement groups, art groups festivals, residents’ associations, Tidy Towns, and sports groups
- Social Inclusion - The organisation’s main activities should be centred on working to make the lives of people who are socially excluded because of poverty and social, cultural, educational and other disadvantages. Examples include groups working within addiction, disability, education, ethnicity/literacy, equality, human rights, integration, unemployed, and welfare rights groups.
- Environmental - A group whose main activities are environmentally based. For example, groups working within clean ups, community gardens, conservation, natural habitats, recycling, sustainability, wildlife protection. All groups registering under the Environmental category have to be ratified by the National Environmental Pillar.
Political parties and businesses are not eligible to register with Sligo PPN.
