Join the Sligo County Council Biodiversity Officer and Dark Skies Ireland for a bat walk with difference this Thursday 26th September at 7pm!
This beautiful event brings together the wonder of the night sky with the fascinating world of our only true flying mammals – bats!
Join Mags Flaherty of Mayo Dark Sky Park, Ruth Hanniffy, Sligo Biodiversity Officer and wildlife educator Daithí Lavelle to talk about dark skies, why they are so important for us and for nature, and how we can protect them.
We will explore the beautiful walled garden and woodlands of Kilglass House, and experience the bats emerging at dusk.
Numbers are limited to please register your place here.
Please dress for the weather and the chilly night temperatures, and wear sturdy footwear. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Do bring a torch if you have one.
We will keep our surroundings dark during the walk but it can be helpful at the end of the evening. No dogs are permitted.
This event is part of SDG Week and is a partnership between Sligo County Council, Dark Sky Ireland, Mayo Dark Sky Park and Leave No Trace
We are grateful to Daithí Lavelle and Kilglass House and Woodland for facilitating this event.
