Christmas Support Allocation 2024

This is a once-off allocation from the Local Government Fund to assist local authorities in the run up to Christmas. It is intended that this funding will be used to support Christmas events and initiatives that will encourage people to shop local and boost the community’s festive spirits. Studies suggest that every €1 spent in a locally owned business adds between €2.50 and €4 to the Irish economy and public services. That’s apart from lowering your carbon footprint. All good.
Sligo County Council’s approved proposal to the Local Government Fund allocated the funds across Sligo’s Municipal Districts as follows:
- Borough District of Sligo: €20,000 to support Christmas Ice rink in Queen Maeve Square
- Sligo Drumcliff: €15,000 to support up to three Christmas Initiatives
- Ballymote-Tubbercurry: €15,000 to support up to three Christmas Initiatives

Community groups in the Sligo-Drumcliff and Ballymote-Tubbercurry Municipal Districts.
