On 22nd November, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, a special event will take place at the Radisson Hotel, Rosses Point, Sligo. This seminar will bring together community groups from across the county who have spearheaded local archaeology projects.
The event aims to foster learning, collaboration and provide a platform for groups to showcase their achievements in archaeological research, conservation and raising community awareness. Representatives from the Achonry Mullinabreena Community Enhancement Group, Enniscrone and District Community Development and the Sligo Neolithic Landscapes Group will share insights into their projects.
This event is tailored to support community groups across the county that are interested in preserving or enhancing community awareness of a local monument in their area but may be unsure how to begin.
Martin Reid from the National Monuments Service will discuss the Community Monuments Fund, covering the types of projects eligible for funding and how community groups can apply. Angela Wallace from Atlantic Archaeology will explore research ideas, tools, activities, and digital resources to help develop and promote community archaeology projects.
This seminar offers an excellent opportunity for groups to connect, network, and exchange information on research, promotion, and securing funding for their community archaeology projects.
If you or your community group would like to attend to find out more about the resources available or to share details about your project, please visit Eventbrite where you can register for this event. This will also be posted on the Sligo Community Archaeology Project Facebook page.
