We are a football club called Merville United established in 1983 in Maugheraboy in the west ward of Sligo town. We have over 300 children registered with the club and since we introduced girls teams in the last four years, girls now make up 40% of this number. Our girls’ teams range from U8 to U15 and our boys’ teams U8 to senior men. We are also looking to expand our girls’ teams up to senior woman’s in the next two years as we believe football for all ages is not only a way to keep fit but great for people’s mental health and a great way to meet new people in your area. The club is run by volunteers locally and our club is open to everyone in the community.
