We are a Dog Agility club who train at the equestrian centre at Markree Castle twice per week. We aim to develop the sport of dog agility in the northwest and to attract people of all ages and particularly younger members to the sport. We do not employ anyone and the club is administered by a committee of members who voluntarily take on additional roles within the club. The committee consists of Chairperson, Secretary, Treasurer, Training Officer, Child Welfare Officer and Public Relations Officer. We have junior and adult members and are open to anyone from anywhere who is interested in responsible dog ownership and active and fun dog sport. The club is fully funded by the members who pay an annual membership fee and training fees and a smaller group of non members who pay for classes only (but we are hoping these progress to joining the club for regular training). We run four different classes; Puppy, Junior Handlers, Beginners and Advanced Agility. We bring external national and international trainers to run seminars for both our members and members of other clubs. Some of our members compete in other parts of the country, there are no competitions in the northwest and one of our goals in developing the sport in the northwest is to have competitions here also. We are in the process of contacting the organisers of the agricultural shows throughout the county to provide free dog agility demonstrations at the summer shows this year.
